The LR20 Association / Community Platform: Today and Plans for the Future
Community. It's easy to miss at times. For many of us our community consists primarily of those we work with and our immediate family. But community is much more than just the people we see every day—it’s the network of relationships, support, and shared experiences that shape our lives.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become isolated, even when surrounded by people. The digital age has made it possible to communicate instantly, yet many of us feel more disconnected than ever. Real community, however, isn’t just about interaction—it’s about meaningful engagement. It’s about knowing that we have people to turn to in times of need, people we can socialize with and get to know by name and, just as importantly, a place where we can be someone others can rely on.
LR20.ca is one way we can use a little technology to strengthen our community in and around Lindsay Road 20. But having the platform in place is just one piece of the puzzle. Ensuring the content is useful, ever-changing, and up to date is what, I believe, will draw us back to the site and engage with it on a regular basis.
It's up to our imagination what we do with this platform. If you have any ideas simply send them down our way.
Today, LR20.ca is, for the most part, a static web site. This means that the web administrator (s) will be responsible for updating the pages and maintaining it and members will largely communicate with them using a set of email addresses and forms as posted on the web site.
That will change fairly quickly, however, as Version 2 of LR20.ca will allow members to interact with the site a little more dynamically - adding their own content, and .... well, best not to give too much away just yet.
That’s why this initiative exists—to empower communities of any size, anywhere in the world, to have access to innovative technology to create a future where they can thrive—independently, securely, and with true ownership over their digital and physical spaces.
And by the way, LR20.ca would never have happened if it wasn't for a chance meeting John Van de Kamer and I had last year where we were both picking up a Food Cycler at the municipal office. A seemingly random conversation has led to this particular site.
I hope we all have fun with this portal and that it helps to make our community just a little stronger.
Because community isn’t just where we live—it’s how we live, together.
